Short-Term Resilience of Soil Microbial Communities and Functions Following Severe Environmental Changes

چکیده
Soil microorganisms are key drivers of soil biochemical processes, but the resilience microbial communities and their metabolic activity after an extreme environmental change is still largely unknown. We studied structural (bacterial fungal communities) functional responses (soil respiration, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) content, hydrolase activities involved in mineralization organic C, N, P S, community-level physiological profiles (CLPPs)) during recolonization three heat-sterilized forest soils followed by cross- or self-reinoculation incubation for 1, 7 30 days. ATP CLPP were annihilated autoclaving, whereas most reduced to varying extents depending on enzyme considered. During period, combination self- cross-reinoculation different sterilized produced rapid dynamic changes enzymatic as well structure catabolic activity. Physicochemical properties original exerted a major influence shaping diversity, while reinoculation promoted faster greater bacterial community than communities, with period type. Our results also confirmed importance richness determining under severe disturbances. In particular, new detected treated revealed occurrence taxa which not soils. This result that rare rather dominant ones may be functionality resilience.

15 صفحه اولShort-term parasite-infection alters already the biomass, activity and functional diversity of soil microbial communities
Native parasitic plants may be used to infect and control invasive plants. We established microcosms with invasive Mikania micrantha and native Coix lacryma-jobi growing in mixture on native soils, with M. micrantha being infected by parasitic Cuscuta campestris at four intensity levels for seven weeks to estimate the top-down effects of plant parasitism on the biomass and functional diversity ...
متن کاملEffect of Long-Term Continuous Fumigation on Soil Microbial Communities
High value crop producers in California rely heavily on soil fumigation to control a wide array of soil borne pests including nematodes, pathogens and weeds. Fumigants with broad biocidal activity can affect soil microbial communities that contribute to nutrient cycling and plant nutrient uptake which can impact soil health. It is often thought that soil microbial communities make a relatively ...
متن کاملResistance, resilience, and redundancy in microbial communities
Although it is generally accepted that plant community composition is key for predicting rates of ecosystem processes in the face of global change, microbial community composition is often ignored in ecosystem modeling. To address this issue, we review recent experiments and assess whether microbial community composition is resistant, resilient, or functionally redundant in response to four dif...
